In the south you will find mainly forests and lakes and a relatively flat landscape, from mid-Sweden the landscape becomes more hilly and eventually even mountainous in the far north and on the border with Norway. The coastline is also beautiful and I have been a huge Gothenburg fan for several years now, a worthy alternative to busy Stockholm.
Sweden is super relaxed. It certainly does not have as many tourists as Norway and Iceland. Finland is a destination that I prefer to visit in the winter. I have now visited Finland four times summer, autumn, winter and although I like forests, I did not find the Finnish landscape very varied for a summer trip.
I truly think Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a wonderful city. There is plenty to see and do, but it is still relatively quiet compared to Oslo or Stockholm for example. In addition, Finland is of course a prime destination for going to the sauna. For me, a trip without a sauna is not a complete Finland trip. Huskies in winters Finland. As I said, I would really only recommend Finland as a winter destination. In the summer, for example, Sweden and Norway have much more to offer in terms of natural beauty.
However, if you are crazy about forests, lakes and mosquitoes then Finland in the summer is really something for. You can also see bears in the far north, but they are usually attracted with food. Since I am really opposed to that, I would never opt for such an experience myself. Wildlife just has to stay wild and should not be fed.

From a landscape point of view, however, Iceland is by far the most stunning destination we have in Europe. You will find geysers, glaciers, huge waterfalls and iceberg lakes. You can do some amazing hieks think of the Laugavegur , for example but you can also make a great road trip in Iceland, both in summer and in winter. It is best to visit Iceland in the summer or in the winter.
The summers are short and cool, the winters long and dark. Yet it is not always the case that there is a huge amount of snow in Iceland in the winter. The last time I was there in winter February there was no snow. In the summer it is relatively busy and you have to take into account that there are many tourists everywhere.
You cannot compare Iceland to any other country. The quirky but very friendly Icelanders do everything to make you happy. You can see northern lights in the winter, whales all year round and cross the interior highlands with a 4WD in the summer. You can also make super amazing hikes, walk to an abandoned aircraft wreck and visit various volcanoes. The Blue Lagoon is a real tourist trap that is also super expensive. You better visit one of the free alternatives to the Blue Lagoon.

Medieval city Turku is the oldest city in Finland. Finland is best for saunas and wild swimming. In , , and Denmark was declared the happiest country in the world.
It is situated below the rest of Scandinavia. Denmark is a beautiful country and home to royal palaces and colorful Nyhavn harbor. Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world.
It is famous for its Tivoli, palaces, and the statue of the little mermaid. Denmark is a most beautiful city with enchanting canals, remarkable museums, and galleries. Iceland lies in the middle of the Atlantic. It offers a great quality of life with a pleasant climate. The capital city of Iceland is Reykjavik. This city serves authentic Icelandic cuisine and a lot of fun places to visit with friends. Also, the Blue Lagoon in Iceland is a perfect place for hot and calming pools for people in the chilling winter or warm evenings of summer.
Silica hotel is also worth attention here. If you want to enjoy the sunsets, volcanic beaches, and gorgeous rocky mounts, Vik and Dyrholaey is truly a perfect place. Torshavn is the capital of Faroe Island. It is the oldest historic capital and is a great place to wander in along with its tasty cuisine. In Faroe Island, Vagar Island is arguably the most breathtaking island. This incredible island offers a great view of nature.
The village Gasadalur of Vagar Island has a beautiful waterfall known as Mulafossur waterfall. Another island in Faroe Island is eye-capturing which is Eysturoy to experience the charm of island life. Saksun is also a wonderful landscape in Faroe Island with its mesmerizing greenery. It is located approximately a 1-hour drive from Torshavn. It is the quiet and calmest place.
After analyzing all of these countries, Finland is the best Scandinavian country to live in and worth visiting in all terms. Well, it is a good bet because it was marked as the happiest country also in The life expectancy is also rising to a large extent in this country. In terms of traveling to Finland, one of the major benefits is that it gives you the cheapest budget.
Business taxes are also less reliable sources of revenue there. About years ago, the country did not have to come across individual income taxes. In the twentieth century, the farmers had significant political power even within the Nordic parliaments.
And in the 19th century, mass education was the means of building stronger states. What better way to experience the Swedish Arctic than with thick snow, sleds and fluffy huskies? These are some of our favourite places to go dog-sledding. Wolves, moose, beavers, reindeer — and even bears — can all be found in Sweden if you know where to look.
The best way to improve your chances of an encounter is to join one of the many wildlife watching tours. Travel in style between Gothenburg and Stockholm on the Blue Train. You can sit back and admire the views from the wood-panelled retro carriages — or head to the piano bar for a drink. Treat yourself to a night or two in a real Swedish castle or grand manor house. These are some of the best ones.
There are an estimated two million of the things in Finland — not bad for a country of around 5. They consider the sauna to be healthy, enjoyable, and an integral part of their social life. The sauna can even be a place to do business deals. Finland has been called the land of a thousand lakes — although, in fact, there are closer to , The cold, clear water is perfect for jump into after a sauna, but there are all sorts of other activities you can enjoy on the water, like this canoeing trip in Finnish Lapland.
Not bad, eh? Reasons why the Scandi countries rate so highly include a lack of corruption, high life expectancy, good health and social care, high incomes, and low levels of gender and wealth inequality.
All the Scandinavian countries are expensive to visit, with the cost of eating out and alcohol particularly high, though public transport often costs less than you might expect.
